Cruise Ship Tours:

All of our tours listed below fit within the time frame most cruise ships are docked in Otago Harbour

We collect clients booked on our tours from the Port Cruise ship terminal between 8.30 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. or by arrangement.

On the rare occasion a ship cannot make it in to Port there is no cancellation fee.

 

We have a variety of Full day and Half day tours to choose from.

Rare Yellow-Eyed Penguins, Moeraki Boulders and Ecosanctuary Tour:

From NZ$230 per person*

Duration - 7 hours. Includes:

Visit and receive a guided tour of Orokonui Forest Ecosanctuary - 90 minutes in total.

Travel via scenic coastal road from Dunedin to the Waitaki District - approximately 80km and 2 hours.

Trotters Gorge geological feature en route - approx. 20 minutes

Yellow eyed penguins and sea birds - approx. 90 minutes

Moeraki Boulders - 40 minutes

Return journey via State Highway approx. 1 hour

Stunning scenery, running commentary and Morning tea.

This full day 4 Nature tour combines viewing the world's rarest penguins with the unique Moeraki Boulders, stunning scenery, an ancient rock gorge and several rare and endangered birds and reptiles at the precious Orokonui Ecosanctuary.  This 4 Nature tour is aimed at cruise ship passengers and those who want to fit a bit of everything into their day.

Moeraki Boulders and Yellow-Eyed Penguins Tour:

From NZ$190 per person*

Duration - 5 hours. Includes:

Travel via scenic coastal road from Dunedin to the Waitaki District -approximately 80km and 2 hours.

Trotters Gorge geological feature en route - approx. 20 minutes

Moeraki Boulders - approx 40 minutes.

Yellow eyed penguins and sea birds  - approx 1.5 hours.

Morning or afternoon tea.

One hour Return via State Highway to Dunedin.

Encounter some of New Zealand's rare wildlife on this 4 Nature tour which combines viewing the world’s rarest penguin, marine wildlife and a wide variety of birds with the unique Moeraki Boulders, almost spherical rock formations, weighing several tons and up to three meters in diameter.

Basalt Pillars Hill-Hike,  Ecosanctuary, Sea Cave and Wetlands Tour:

From NZ$190 per person*

Duration - 7 hours. Includes:

Organ pipes hill-hike up the side of Mt. Cargill to view this volcanic rock formation. - approx. 90 minutes.

Scenic drive from pick-up to Orokonui Ecosanctuary - endangered and rare birds, stunning forest approx 2 hours.

Coastal drive - 20 minutes to Wetlands  then bird viewing 40-60 minutes, including morning or afternoon tea.

White sand beach walk and stunning sea cave, with pelagic and coastal birds - 75 minutes including Afternoon tea.

An alternate scenic route is taken on the drive back to your Dunedin drop-off location.

This 4 Nature tour includes a 45 minute stepped ascent (with corresponding downhill return) to the Organ Pipes basalt pillars, the birds and forest of Orokonui Ecosanctuary, a picturesque wetland, sea caves and stunning beach. This full day 4 Nature tour is aimed at those able to walk on uneven ground and with a moderate level of fitness, who want to experience New Zealand’s unique wildlife up close and personal.

Ecosanctuary Strolling Tour with Sea Cave and Wetlands :

From NZ$190 per person*

Duration - 7 hours. Includes:

30 minute Scenic drive from pick-up to Orokonui Ecosanctuary. Receive a guided tour among endangered and rare birds, within stunning regenerating native forest. - approx 2 hours.

20 minutes  Coastal drive to Wetlands. Then stroll along the water's edge for bird viewing  approx 40-60 minutes,

Receive morning or afternoon tea.

15 minute transfer to the Pacific Ocean shore. Take a walk alongside  rock cliffs on a white sand beach to view a cooled magma sea cave, with pelagic and coastal birds - 75 minutes

An alternate scenic route is taken on the drive back to your Dunedin drop-off location.

This 4 Nature Tour includes many of the highlights of the walking tour but is tailored for those able to walk on well formed tracks and beaches who want to experience New Zealand’s unique wildlife at a gentler pace.

Extended Bird Watching and Wildlife Tour:

Duration 7 hours. Includes:

30 minute scenic drive from pick-up to Orokonui Ecosanctuary. Receive a guided tour among endangered and rare birds, inside regenerating native forest protected behind a predator resistant fence.  approx 3 - 4 hours.

20 minutes  coastal drive to Wetlands  and/or Pacific Ocean shoreline for extended bird viewing, including morning or afternoon tea.

An alternate scenic route is taken on the drive back to your Dunedin drop-off location.

This specialised 4 Nature tour is designed for those determined to try and view specific rare birds or reptiles. This full day tour includes an extended tour of the forest birds at Orokonui Ecosanctuary, plus wetlands and sea birds.

30 minute scenic drive from pick-up to Orokonui Ecosanctuary - Receive a guided tour among endangered and rare birds, inside regenerating native forest protected behind a predator resistant fence . approx 2 hours.

Coastal drive - 20 minutes to Wetlands  then bird viewing 40-60 minutes, including morning or afternoon tea.

An alternate scenic route is taken on the drive back to your Dunedin drop-off location.

This half day tour is intended for those able to walk on uneven ground at a gentle pace, who want to experience some of the highlights of New Zealand’s unique wildlife up close and personal. It includes a two hour tour of the forest birds at Orokonui Ecosanctuary, plus a wetlands area.
